About RT

Radiography Testing (RT) is an inspection method used to identify internal defects that may not be visible from the surface.

During radiographic inspection, radiation passes through the material being examined. Different areas of the material absorb the radiation differently depending on their condition and density. The radiation that passes through the component is captured on a film or digital detector, creating an image of the internal structure.

The resulting radiographic image can be evaluated to identify internal discontinuities such as porosity, slag inclusions, cracks and lack of fusion

How RT Works

01 — Radiation Source
An X-ray or gamma-ray source is positioned to direct radiation through the component.
02 — Radiation Penetration
Radiation passes through the material, with different material conditions absorbing different amounts of radiation.
03 — Image Capture
The transmitted radiation is captured using a film or digital detector.
04 — Image Evaluation
The resulting radiographic image is examined to identify relevant internal defects.

Applications

Where Radiography Testing Is Used

Weld Inspection
Used to examine welded joints for internal defects.

Casting Inspection
Applied to inspect cast components for internal discontinuities.

Pipeline Joints
Used for inspection of suitable pipeline weld joints.

Key Advantages

Why Choose Radiography Testing?

Permanent Record
Radiographic inspection can provide a permanent inspection record.

Highly Reliable
Provides reliable imaging for evaluating internal conditions of suitable components.
