About Preheating

Preheating is an important heat treatment practice carried out before welding. The base material is heated to a required temperature before the welding operation begins.

By controlling the temperature of the material before welding, the cooling rate can be reduced and the risk of hydrogen cracking can be minimized. Preheating also helps support better weld quality and control during the welding process.

Preheating is particularly relevant when working with thick materials, alloy steels and low-temperature environments.

How Preheating Works

01 — Prepare
The welding area and base material are prepared for heating.
02 — Heat
The base material is heated to the required preheating temperature.
03 — Monitor
The temperature is monitored during the heating process.
04 — Weld
Welding is carried out while maintaining the required thermal conditions.

Key Advantages

Why Preheating Matters

Reduces Cooling Rate
Helps control the rate at which the material cools after welding.

Helps Prevent Cracking
Supports the reduction of hydrogen cracking risk.

Reduces Residual Stress
Helps reduce residual stresses associated with the welding process.
